One day after MTN announced that it will open its LTE network Vodacom announced that it will also open its LTE network. This is despite the fact that the department of communication have not released some available spectrum that will enable fast speeds on LTE. Both Vodacom and MTN will launch limited capacity LTE networks before the end of 2012.
It seems like Vodacom and MTN are opening up their LTE network for the launch of the iPhone 5 in South Africa.
Their is no word from Vodacom or MTN as to when the iPhone 5 will be available in South Africa but Vodacom have stated that most of their stores will have Nano Sim cards by Friday 28 September.
South Africa is unlikely to release the iPhone 5 in September but it is expected sometime in October. Speculation remains high but their are suggestions that it could be released on 19 or 26 October 2012
